Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures signed Guy Ritchie to direct a live action adaptation of Lobo, the DC Comics title about an alien interstellar bounty hunter.
Don Payne wrote the most recent script draft, and Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will produce. The film is a co-production between Silver Pictures and Weed Road.
Production on Lobo begins early next year. The studio is aiming for a PG-13 rating.
In the film Lobo will be a seven-foot tall, blue(gray)-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.

Venom Spin off Movie in the works
Superhero Hype! were on set of Sony's upcoming horror comedy Zombieland, starring Woody Harrelson, and spent some time with the film's co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. These guys who are clearly fans of comics. The learned that the pair were working on the first draft for Sony's planned "Spider-Man" spin-off movie Venom:
"Obviously, with a character like Venom there's a ton of stuff to draw from," Reese told us. "Then they had specific rules about the villain and the backstory and stuff like that, so there were certain things they wanted us... certain parameters they gave us. But largely we pitched them something and they liked it but they had changes, so we worked on the outline for a long time and then we wrote the script. So with Marvel and Sony and us it's definitely very, very collaborative."

DETAILS ABOUT SPIDER-MAN's BROADWAY SHOW
At Julie Taymor's upcoming Broadway show "Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark" the New York Postlearned more about the villains in the story, which Taymore described as a "circus rock-'n'-roll drama." Here's an excerpt from their article:
As Spider-Man, Peter clashes with a parade of Marvel villains -- Green Goblin, Carnage, Electro, Rhino, Swarm and Lizard.
Berger and Taymor have invented a new baddie for the show -- Swiss Miss, whose costume, designed by Oscar winner Eiko Ishioka ("Bram Stoker's Dracula"), consists of rotating knives and swirling corkscrews.
Five young singers performed six songs from the show, including the haunting "Rise Above," which is as good as any rock ballad in "Rent."

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE TRAILER
Rogan Says Green Hornet is Green Lit Again
Seth Rogen is having a great year, to say the least. Not only does he have two huge movies hitting theatres this month--DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens and Warner Bros.' Observe and Report--he's also getting ready to shoot The Green Hornet. We talked to the in-demand actor on Tuesday at the press day for Observe and Report about the superhero film.
Q: When does "The Green Hornet" start shooting?
Seth Rogen: Right now the end of June. That is our tentative start date.
Q: What is Stephen Chow's involvement at this point?
Rogen: He's kind of our mascot. (laughs) He may be Kato. I'm not 100% sure if that's the case, but it's a very likely possibility. I'm not sure. Honestly, we're kind of in the very early phases right now. We're just putting those elements in place so I'm being honest. I honestly don't know yet. Full Story Here
MILLAR VENTS ABOUT SUPERMAN MOVIE FIASCO
Millar says he's moved on from his fabled 'Superman' reboot, in which he teamed with an A-list director and a producer for a pitch. Millar putting his efforts into the big-screen man of steel.
"Warner's talked to us and a few other writer/ director teams, but things seem to be in stasis right now. As far as I understand, nothing is happening with Superman at the moment and so the director and I are just working on another project. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, no biggie."
"We're one of three teams they were in serious chats with (more for the director than me) and if Superman is available when we finish our next film who knows? But we're starting production on the new movie in June and so Superman absolutely not on our dance cards anytime soon. A shame, really, as we'd have completely reinvigorated it, but then again I like the idea of complete control over everything I'm doing now (which I have on all my projects). The idea of taking notes from the guys who liked the idea of Superman lying in bed for the final act of Returns doesn't sound good to me :)"
Green Lantern Movie Fully Charged
Design Artwork for The Planet OA (click to enlarge)Lots of exciting Green Lantern News This week as the Movie Ramps up to full fast track speed:
Production Weekly posts on Twitter that offices for “Green Lantern” are being prepared at the Tribeca West complex in Los Angeles. A subsequent post reported that the movie is “scheduled to begin filming mid-September in Australia.”
Elsewhere, Dark Horizons interviewed “Green Lantern” producer Donald De Line about the status of the movie, and he gladly confirmed the shooting date.
“We are leaving for Australia Wednesday night with Martin Campbell, our director, to go scout in Sydney and Melbourne,” said the producer. “We plan on starting to shoot mid-September in Australia.”
The producer stated that not a single character has been cast, despite various rumors pegging Ryan Gosling as Green Lantern and other reports that Anton Yelchin was vying for the “Green Lantern” lead. The one thing De Line would confirm is that Hal Jordan will be front and center in the film.
“There have been many variations of the Green Lantern,” De Line continued. “Our story is the Hal Jordan version.”
Designs from Brian Murray studios for the Berlanti Group have leaked and can be see below. It's uncerrtain if his designed will be the final version but it is uncertain if his deisgns will be those chosen in the final film version.

The costume looks great in my opinion except for the symbol. Traditional superhero spandex, though it looks good in the comics, usually looks cheesy on real people. I think this is a good look for a GL movie. I don't know about the symbol though,it needs to be changed back before the actual movie. Anyone else notice Hal's ring is on his left Hand in this picture?
What we know so far:
* They’re definitely going with the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern.
* They are NOT going for a younger Hal Jordan - they’re looking for someone in their late 20’s/early 30’s.
* A lot of time will be used to establish the character of Hal Jordan, so that audiences can connect with him prior to acquiring the ring that gives him his superpowers.
* Big stakes and big action, but there will be humor in the film (think a similar tone to Iron Man, rather than The Dark Knight).
* They are in pre-production, they have a production designer and a costume designer and they’re in Australia right now scouting locations.

Spider-Man 4 Headed to Michigan
Sam Raimi, director of the blockbuster “Spider-Man” movies, is on his way to Michigan to once again shoot motion pictures in his home state.
Born and raised in Oakland County, he plans to begin production in the summer locally on a small-budget otherworldly thriller dubbed, for the time being, “Room 205.” And he’s just the latest big Hollywood name attracted to Michigan since the state rolled out the nation’s most generous financial incentives last year to get more movies, TV shows and commercials made here. Raimi is slated to begin production on “Spider-Man 4” in 2010, in fact and, he said, envisions shooting some of that movie in Michigan.
“I’ll be looking at Michigan for our second-unit photography on the new ‘Spider-Man’ film,” he confirmed.
The extensive infrastructure needed to crank out megabudget productions like the three “Spider-Man” movies he already has made has, for the most part, kept him in Hollywood, Raimi pointed out. Yet he and Tapert have traveled the world to shoot TV shows such as “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
Raised in Detroit, Raimi regularly visits his parents and a brother and sister still in the area. While here, he has worked on scripts for “Spider-Man” and horror films with his big brother, Ivan Raimi, who squeezes screenwriting in with his full-time job as a doctor.
